Armistice Day
Praise God
for that hour four years ago
That hour
of silence and prayer.
That hour
so fraught with hope and thanks
When all
before was despair.
That hour
when the lives of many were saved
Of our
loved ones “over There”.
Oh the
awful silence that filled the land
That
silence so long delayed.
That
silence was holy ah! Yes, it was
Our boys
in that silence prayed
They
thanked the God who had spared their lives
Whose hand
deaths power had stayed.
In all
that army of millions of men
Every head
in reverence bared
To Him,
they had learned to know
When death
that awful monster was at their side.
Thank God
that the unbelieving soul
In moments
like that, believe!
